Metro Manila · Bay Cruises
In the concrete jungle of Manila, one easily forgets that the city lies right by the sea. A cruise on the Manila Bay lets you experience the tranquility and find your equilibrium.
A boat trip offers an amazing new view of the city's skyline and the bay, especially during the magnificent Philippine sunset. Prestige Cruises and Sun Cruises both offer dinner packages in the late afternoon or early evening. Opinions about the food are divided, but most people are enthusiastic about the stunning panorama, the fresh breeze (though when you have bad luck it can be a bit smelly), the soothing swaying of the boat, and the overall calming atmosphere.
Sun Cruises' regular price is 550 pesos per person. The 1 hour 15 minutes cruise comes with a set dinner and a live acoustic band. The regular price of Prestige Cruises is 650 pesos per person, for an Asian all-you-can-eat buffet. Duration is also 1 hour 15 minutes. Drinks are not included in both cases. Reserving at least a day in advance is advised. Careful with third-party suppliers, as some sell overpriced tickets without offering additional services.
Sun Cruises also offers all-inclusive day trips and overnight stays at El Corregidor, a small island roughly 50 kilometers west of Manila. In World War II, Corregidor Island was a heavily embattled fortress of the Americans and Filipinos. You can still visit the remnants of canons, bunkers, the tunnel system, as well as several memorials for soldiers and war victims.
