Metro Manila · Dragon Boat Festival
The Lucky Chinatown Mall (link) celebrates the first 'Dragon Boat Festival'. The event started on 'Manila Day' and will go on for six days.
A majestic dragon boat greets shoppers at the entrance of Lucky Chinatown Mall. The festivity has its roots in the old Chinese 'Story of Qu Yuan'. Visitors can learn more about this poet and patriot and the legend of his death in an exhibition on the ground floor.
A Chinese Food Fair gives the opportunity to try traditional food during the Dragon Boat Festival, such as 'Zong zi' (or 'machang'). At least thirteen different versions of this delicious dumpling with glutinous rice are available. The Dragon Boat Festival will be celebrated until June 30.
