Megacity HotSpots are geographical areas in Metro Manila which are easily reachable for Megacitizens and feature establishments that make it interesting for expats and young urban professionals. Every HotSpot has unique features which makes it worth visiting, bei it bars and restaurants or malls, museums and sports facilities.
The old center of Metro Manila breathes history: churches and old universities built during the Spanish era, neoclassical government buildings and wide boulevards from the American Commonwealth period, and monuments for the national heroes of a finally independent Philippines.
Alabang is located between the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the business district of Makati with its Salcedo and Legazpi village Hotspots. The Alabang HotSpot can easily be reached from either of those locations via the Skyway. If you dont mind the toll fee, even the rush hour is not as bad as in other places of the Megacity.
The Fort Bonifacio HotSpot is often referred to as just 'the Fort'. For our HotSpot area, we refer to the Market Market Mall area and the Serendra complex, the adjacent High Street, and the nearby Fort Strip and Fort Entertainment Complex.
Manila's Chinatown Binondo is situated in Manila City, in one of the oldest parts of the Megacity. Historically, there has been a strong Chinese influence on the Philippines, starting with trade relations centuries ago. Manila's Chinatown is in fact considered the oldest in the world.
The EDSA-Ortigas HotSpot is located in the heart of Ortigas. It is host to international organizations such as the Asian Development Bank which has its international headquarters here in the Megacity Manila.
This HotSpot is conveniently located in the North-East of Makati and as such makes it a prime destination for after-work hours. No matter if you still have to wait for the traffic to decrease before heading home, looking for an informal meeting place or just relax or party after a contract has been signed: this HotSpot is what you need. Jupiter, Burgos, Kalayaan offers all you need for the above-mentioned and more. You want to relax first? Try a quick massage. Heading home later? Get some ice-cold beer while singing your heart out at the local karaoke bar. It's time for chill-out? Go to one of the Megacitizens' favorite hangout places in Metro Manila.
Legazpi Village is the other HotSpot that is situated in the heart of Megacity Manila. There is a lot to write about this HotSpot but it definitely stands for shopping, shopping, shopping. The following malls are located within Legazpi and are just a stone-throw away from each other: Greenbelt, Glorietta, Landmark, and SM Makati. All of them are easily reachable either by the connecting pedestrian-bridges or by well-regulated pedestrian crossings.
Intramuros, the Hyatt Casino and the American Embassy – these are only some of the places you can find in the Roxas Boulvard HotSpot. The HotSpot is located in Manila at the bay area. For those Megacitizens who just arrived or haven't had the time yet: the HotSpot is all about culture and tourist destinations.
This HotSpot is located in the core of the heart of the Megacity Manila – Makati Downtown. The HotSpot is not only a collection of offices and embassies but has also everything you need on a typical work day. A wide selection of chain stores are conveniently located all over the HotSpot ranging from McDonalds to Starbucks. No matter if you look for a location to have business-lunch or an after-work drink, Salcedo Village has it all.
HotDots are very similar to HotSpots but encompass a smaller geographical region. While a HotSpot might be as big as a whole village, a HotDot might only be two great bars at a certain street corner. Here again, HotDots feature places which have been hand-picked by the Megacities team to meet the requirements of what a Megacitizen might want to be looking for.
Landmarks and Points of Interest are places and establishments that are naturally popular and/or important, such as the institutions of political power, theaters, selected tourist attractions and places for recreation. Those locations complete the holistic picture of places to visit as a Megacitizen.
