Metro Manila · Where to watch the World Cup in Manila (UPDATE)
Football is a sport best enjoyed in a cheering crowd, especially when it comes to the final matches! Here is our updated list of sports bars and other establishments in Metro Manila that show the games even in the middle of the night.
The Fifa World Cup 2014 is held in Brazil, which is why the games are scheduled between 12 midnight and 7 am local Philippine time. Just like the players in hot and humid Brazil, make sure you stay well-hydrated during all the matches!
Handlebar, the venue for rocker, bikers, and expats in Polaris Street, is open 24/7 and is going to show all games.
Just around the corner is H&J, formerly Heckle & Jeckle. The sports bar has an international audience, many screens, and is open around the clock, so you can see all the games you want.
Another sports bar in the area, at Kalayaan Street. Open around the clock, with screens not only in every corner but also in the outside area, for "public viewing" al fresco.
The French bar and resto keeps its doors open for the World Cup and shows all matches on a wide screen in its homey garden café.
The German Club in Legazpi Village shows all matches of the German team in an authentic "Kneipenatmosphäre" (pub atmosphere).
20 screens all over the place are ensuring that you won't miss any goal. Skinny Mike's is a 24h sports bar where you can watch the World Cup all night long.
This Australian sports bar and steak restaurant at The Forum in Fort Bonifacio is open around the clock and shows all the matches.
Snaps Sports Bar (at Sofitel Philippine Plaza)
Snaps Sports Bar is open 24/7, and not only for hotel guests of the Sofitel. Here you can enjoy the football matches in an elegant setting, and afterwards watch the sun rise over Manila Bay.
This resto bar in the Shangri-La Plaza Mall is the place to go for German football fans in particular, as you can enjoy all matches with Bavarian wheat beer and German sausages.
The Union Jack Tavern at the Festival Supermall in Muntinlupa unfortunately closes before midnight, but it opens early at 6 am. Therefore you still have the chance to catch a match in the tavern's authentic British pub setting before going to work in the morning.
On Your Own TV
Of course you can also just watch the Fifa World Cup with a couple of friends at home, live and in high definition. SkyCable offers a season pass for the World Cup on Balls Channel for 1,999 pesos. Full replays of all matches will also be aired from July 14 to 31.
