Makati Medical Center (Makati Med) is a leading tertiary healthcare facility in the country that prides itself on its sophisticated facilities. The very principle of the hospital’s legacy is to provide quality healthcare for everyone – regardless of creed, economic status, or race. This said principle is what drove its founder Dr. Constantino P. Manahan along with other prominent Philippine doctors to build the hospital in the 1960s. General Information

When the Ayala conglomerate started developing Makati from a mere residential area to a bustling commercial district, it became evident that a big hospital was necessary in the area. Most of the major hospitals in the metro were located in Quezon City –a place that was considered rather far from Makati during those times. The hospital opened its doors in early 1969. Today, the Makati Medical Center (MakatiMed) is not only a go-to place for tertiary healthcare but is also known for its medical research and training facilities - not only in the Philippines but in the whole region.

It stands in area of 50,000 square meters. As of September 2012, Makati Medical Center boasts a total of 811 staff physicians – 638 of which are active while 173 are visiting medical practitioners.
