Metro Manila · Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival 2013
Cinemalaya is the big independent film festival of the Philippines. 25 films will be on display from July 26 to August 4, 2013. Venues are the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the cinemas of Greenbelt, Trinoma, and Alabang Town Center.
The festival provides 'seed investments' of 500.000 pesos to the ten best independent filmmakers. The films, selected out of hundreds of submissions from all over the Philippines, run in three categories. The Directors' Showcase features movies by directors who have already done commercially released films. The New Breed Category is for young talented filmmakers. Short films will be shown under the Short Feature Category. The theme of the 9th Cinemalaya is 'Synergy of the Senses'.
