Metro Manila · 2014 Eiga Sai - The Japanese Film Festival (July 3 to 13)
This year's Eiga Sai, the Japanese Film Festival, focuses on movies about (extended) families, a topic of high importance for Japanese and Filipino people alike.
Eiga Sai 2014 is showing 16 contemporary Japanese films. Featured movies include:
- Homeland, a movie shot in Fukushima, about a broken family seeking for light and hope,
- Reunion, the story of a man who volunteered at the temporary morgue in a high school gymnasium after earthquake and tsunami,
- and Wolf Children, a feature animation about a mother and her "wolf children".
After Manila, the festival will continue in cinemas in Davao City and Cebu City until August.
All films will be shown in original Japanese version with English subtitles. Eiga Sai is an annual film festival, presented by the Japan Foundation. It is part of the Philippines-Japan Friendship Month.
